Welcome!!

Hi,

Welcome to “Trace your Money”, although the name might confuse some of you a bit, but I assure you that I am not going to talk about economy or comment on our world economic crisis, simply because I am neither an economy major nor am I a Business Major. I just took “ECO 202” in my university as an social science requirement when this idea just popped in to my head. My aim of creating this blog is simple; I had a small idea in mind long time ago in which I wanted the help of as many internet volunteers as possible to trace the money we spend in a institute.

Proposal:

As you all know. The liquid money (coins and notes) that we spend on buying commodities flows from one hand to the other, from buyers to sellers or vice versa. We also exchange our capital to lower form in the form of coins, dime for instance. But the money keeps on circulating. If this is the case then some time in our life, the money that we invested should eventually return to us!

But how can we possibly know that the money that we invested long time ago will actually return to us in some duration of time. It may take months or years! My aim is to calculate this duration but I won't be waiting for my invested money to return but instead would like collaborated help.

I am currently living in United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), the currency over here is Dirham, Dirham= 0.27 US Dollars. In order to test my theory, I made a couple of mark on a coin using permanent marker, something like this:

As you can see there are three mark spot on the upper right side of the coin. This is a special coin which was release to celebrate 50 year of Abu Dhabi Police's Golden Jubilee. I am not sure how many of such coins were made so I marked 3 point using a permanent marker.

After the initial stages of designing the identification tag, in my case coin's black spot, is done. I am planning to distribute pamphlet all across my university campus and tell everyone to look for this special coin and also urge them to spread the news and than I'll do what most us do with money, I'll spend it on food! If someone does come across this coin within the university campus then they should post a note on my blog with a picture of the coin along with the date when he/she get this coin (it could be the date you first realized that you had this coin). Than the finder is suppose to spend his money so that it goes on for a ride again. This way we could calculate the duration it take for the money to reach from one user to the next based on the data posted on the blog.

I will spend this money in my university campus, so that the odds of acquiring this money is high in the beginning. Eventually this coin will finds its way out of the campus and in to the wilderness that is the real world and this is when the fun begins!!

I am going to do this in U.A.E. but if you are living in some other part of the world and would like to do the same project or are still involve in this sort of project, than feel free to share your thought here or email me your proposals. It'll give me great pleasure to know how others think of this idea!

I am still on the verge of collecting more information on this project and trying to bring campus student's attention toward this blog, therefore I haven't spend the coin yet but will post as soon as my work is done and I spend this coin!

Keep checking!
